Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.  Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical dysfunctions, pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of massage.   Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, massage therapists utilize a variety of modern and well-established massage techniques to provide the optimal massage for each client and their unique conditions. At the Institute of Movement, our massage therapists are well versed and utilize a combination of Swedish massage techniques, deep tissue, trigger point therapy and myofascial release to create a personalized massage treatment for each patient.

Massage treatments can be used to aid with injury recovery, manage chronic pain, optimize athletic performance, and promote general relaxation and wellbeing.
